Want to know the best places to eat in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach area in Alabama? My boyfriend and I recently went on a week long road trip to Destin, Florida for part of the week and Gulf Shores for the second part.
Unfortunately, a lot of the entertainment places were not open due to the pandemic. So, besides hanging out at the beach, eating was one of the few things we could do! Since food is my love language, I had no complaints with that 😉
Here are some of our favorite finds and some of the best places to eat in Gulf Shores!
As a note, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are right next to each other so a lot of these places are technically in Orange Beach.
Lulu’s is the creation of Lucy Buffett (the sister of country singer Jimmy Buffett). I was so surprised when we arrived at the sheer size of this place. Because, not only is Lulu’s a restaurant, it’s a full blown destination with an arcade, multiple bars, hair braiding and temporary tattoos, and so much more! Plus, they have live music every night.
- Must Eat: “Pa-Menna” Burger
- Must Drink: Jet Ski Killer
BuzzKatz Coffee & Sweats
We didn’t end up eating at BuzzKatz but I love finding local coffee shops! This place is adorable and the staff was very friendly.
- Must Try: Cuban Coffee (I got it iced and it was delicious!)
This restaurant is located in our hotel, The Lodge at Gulf State Park (you can read a full review of our hotel soon), and was easily my favorite meal the entire trip. The views of the water, the beautiful patio, and bright restaurant all add to the true coastal feel.
- Must Try: Ribeye Steak, Baked Bread Basket with Whipped Butters, Asiago Crusted Grouper
- Must Drink: Front Porch Tea
Brick & Spoon
In all honesty, this wasn’t my favorite place in the world but the food was good enough that I would try it again. Great brunch spot but, even during the pandemic, it was BUSY so keep in mind that there might be a wait.
- Must Try: Biscuits for Two, Killer Creole Omelet, Bama Chick
- Must Drink: Wild Mary
The Yard Milkshake Bar
100% a must visit while in Gulf Shores. Take a milkshake and put it on steroids and that’s what you get at The Yard. Was it the best milkshake I’ve ever had? No. But, it was a fun experience! Plus, you get to take the mason jar home!!
I will say though, there was no way I could finish my milkshake because it was just so sweet so sharing is definitely a good idea. Also, my tip is to go right when they open because otherwise, you will be in line a very long time.
- Must Try: S’Moreo
